On October 7, 2006, the sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority at UMBC and UMCP participated in the fund-raising 5K AIDS Walk in Washington DC. This event benefited the Whitman-Walker Clinic, a non-profit community-based health organization, which has a staff of volunteers who provides service to those who are infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. The sisters registered under the National APIA Panhellenic Association (NAPA) team and proudly walked the whole event with the rest of the NAPA organization. Our team's member recruitment goal was 50 and we were able to recruit 60 people, having Kappa Phi Lambda representing majority of the organization. Our team was also able to fundraise $490.00. This was one of the most successful events of the year and the sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda look forward to helping the community more and more each day.
