Kelly Ngai was a wonderful friend and sister who passed away Monday, June 23,2003.
Free spirited. Passionate. Poetic. Beautiful. Vibrant. Loving.

Those who had spent a moment with her would understand how special she was. She has touched the hearts of many and has created memories that will forever be cherished. Even though she will be greatly missed, we know that she is now in a better place. There are so many different emotions that we are all feeling.

Let's take this time to reflect on how Kelly left an imprint in our lives.

Kelly had a fun loving nature. She was the embodiment of love, affection and kindness. With so much passion and energy, people were drawn towards her. She had a way of letting her friends know how special they were to her. She always made time to make thoughtful gifts to us. I loved her spunky ways. Giving off such a lively and playful persona, Kelly was so fun to be around with. I'm so thankful for all the laughter and timeless memories she's given to me. I will always hold on to the memories as she did with her baby blanket.

I remember the first time I met her; she walked straight up to me and introduced herself. She's was so confident and friendly. I knew right away this girl was one of a kind. No matter where we were or what the situation was, it was just more fun with Kelly there. Reflecting back, Kelly enjoyed the simplest things in life. Things we always take for granted. Now I understand she was a step ahead of us all along. Her philosophy of life was so simple but yet so true. She enjoyed the company of her friends and family. She didn't let petty things ruin her day. Most importantly, she was always true to herself. There's a saying how every person you know in this world, whether it is for a moment or your best friend, is there for a reason. I thank you Kelly for being in my life. I didn't realize how much she taught me until now. How can I ever thank someone enough when they taught you how to enjoy life, be more fun loving and just be yourself? Kelly, you are truly one of a kind. You are deeply missed. I know you are in a better place and just because you are there, I bet it's a happier place now.
May you rest in peace.
Love always and forever, Melissa aka Grumpy

I will always remember and miss Kelly. She was a very sweet, caring, playful, creative, and cheerful person. She had a very unique personality. I remember when I was down; she was able to make me forget about my worries. I enjoyed her company and her energetic nature. She was always there for me. She was a true friend. She never wants to see anyone sad, and goes out of her way to make someone smile. She has brought in a lot of laughter into my life. I always laughed a lot when I was with her. She knew how to brighten up the room with her presence. She is truly the "dopey" amongst us and I love her for that. I will never forget her cute gestures and her unique laughs. I will truly miss her. But I know that she is in the hands of the Lord and that she's in a better place.

So what's life about anyways? We are constantly in the search for the answer, but one thing we are told is that to live life to the fullest. The one person who always did that was Kelly Ngai. Kelly had this energy and spontaneity that was explosive and infectious. Kelly always lived for the moment never holding anything back. It is something that a lot of us know we should do but often at times can't. Which is what makes Kelly truly unique. Those that have met her even for a day will always remember her. When she was feeling something you felt it too, when she was thinking of something, she made sure she told you. My dear friend whom I've known since I was 17, you will truly be missed. But I will always remember all the times when you've made me a better person and I am very fortunate that our paths crossed.

My most memorable moments of Kelly are definitely during our pledging days. This was the first time I met Kelly, made my prejudgments of her, got to know her on a personal level, and learned a great deal from her. Kelly and I were, what you would call, two opposite extremes, but our lives crossed paths for a reason. It's through our differences I was able to gain so much insight from her on live. It's so easy to surround ourselves with people we feel comfortable with and people that are similar to ourselves, but when a person that is different from you walks into your life, you open yourself up to new challenges and new possibilities. This is something Kelly did for me. She had so much knowledge to share and so much love to give; you can't help but feel an immediate connection with her.

When I reflect back on the happiest moments back in college, I would say that it was with the six girls that I spent time with. Kelly was one of the six girls. It was my sophomore year at Stony Brook when I was first introduced to Kelly. Reminiscing, I remember that moment clearly. She was the first person I met that was so individualistic and had her own style. She was a very independent, friendly, funny and open-minded person. At the start, I knew Kelly was a cool chic. There was this one time in Benedict Quad in Stony Brook, I recall having so much fun that day because the simplest things made us laugh. I sometimes wonder if it's under extreme circumstances in life that make us realize things. Unfortunately with the loss of Kelly, I did realize how we sometimes take things in life for granted. I don't think I ever thanked her or told her how much I appreciated her as a friend. Kelly I am lucky to have had you as part of my life. Thank you for making me laugh and smile. Thank you for all the good times and having kept special memories in my heart. You are loved by many and will be missed dearly.
